23 May 2009 - Lubbock, TX - James Taylor of Lubbock, Texas, won the Professional Division of the Western Putting Tour Qualifying tournament this morning in Lubbock, Texas, by one stroke over Joel Woodall of Lubbock, Texas, and a total field of 8 professionals after he shot a 29 under par, 79, after 54 holes of medal play. Woodall shot an outstanding 14 under par 22 for the first round, and held a 4 stroke lead over Lee Messinger of Dallas, Texas. Woodall then shot a 7 under par 29, for a 21 under par 51 after 36 holes of play and held a two stroke lead over Messinger. Taylor fired an 11 under par 25 over the final 18 holes to slip by Woodall by one stroke and claim his first victory of the season. Western Putting Tour State Championship qualifying spots were won by Taylor, Woodall and Gary Reed of Lubbock, Texas.  Mickey DeLucca

Mickey DeLucca of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, won the Amateur Division of the Western Putting Tour Qualifying tournament this morning in Lubbock, Texas, after beating Carey Bailey of Lubbock, Texas, and a total field of 9 amateurs after he shot a 22 under par, 86, after 54 holes of medal play. After the first round of play, there was a four way tie for first at 7 under par, 29, among DeLucca, Bailey, Danny Tatum of DeRidder, Louisiana, and Danny Halpain of Lubbock, Texas. Tatum shot an 8 under par, 26, to hold a one stroke lead over Halpain after thirty-six holes at 15 under par, 57. DeLucca shot a final round score of 10 under par, 26, to beat Bailey for first place after 54 holes of medal play to claim his second tour victory in a row.
