Course manager, PPA Hall of Fame member, and host PPA professional Gary Hinshaw will welcome the PPA National Tour to historic course # 3 at the picturesque Richmond, VA Putt-Putt Fun Center for the contesting of the 2009 PPA Eastern Open, hosted by the Virginia PPA Tour.  In 1961, PPA Hall of Fame member Neil Conner captured the inaugural PPA Eastern Open in Long Island, NY.  In the most recent PPA Eastern Open in 2007 in Abingdon, MD, 2005 PPA National Champion Jay Klapper fired spectacular closing rounds of 20 and 21 for a 72-hole total of 94 to defeat a stunned Ricky Schults by two strokes.  The 2009 event in Richmond promises to be a low-scoring affair.  In the 2004 PPA ProPutters.com Classic in Richmond, PPA Hall of Fame member Roger Beckerman fired a final-round 19 on course # 3 en route to victory.  Since then, PPA Hall of Fame legend Daryl Freeman (twice), 2007 PPA Tournament Players Champion Vince Batten, and 2006 PPA National Champion Brad Lebo also have shot 19 on the course.  In 2005, Freeman, who also competed in the first PPA Eastern Open in 1961, set the all-time 54-hole PPA scoring record of 63 in a Virginia PPA Tour event on course # 3.  The next day, 2004 PPA World Match Play Champion Darrell Anderson established a new 108-hole PPA scoring record (since broken by Jeff Carr in the 2008 GA State Championship) of 139 in the VA State Championship on course # 3, eclipsing the previous 108-hole mark of 142, which, appropriately, also was set on course # 3, by Lebo in the 2002 Virginia Open
