Lee Messinger Completes Sweep of Weekend
13 July 2008 - Hurst, TX - Lee Messinger of Dallas, Texas, won the Professional Division of the Texas State Qualifying tournament today in Hurst, Texas, by one stroke over second-place finisher Mike Baldoza of Austin, Texas, and a total field of seven professionals. Lee swept both TPT events this weekend. Lee's first round score of 25 was the second-lowest round of the day, only one stroke behind Danny Tatum's second round 24. Texas State Championship spots were won by Mike Baldoza, Danny Tatum, and Joel Baker. Pat Simpson of Denton, Texas, won the Amateur division of the Texas State Qualifying tournament today in Hurst, Texas, by beating Alan Sahmel of Huffman, Texas, in an 18 hole playoff after three rounds of medal play by shooting a 7 under 29 to Alan's 33 after they tied with a 54 hole total of 84. This is Pat's second TPT win this year, as well as his second win after being tied at the end of regular competition.
