Dwain Willett Pulls Away in Final Round for APA Victory

5 May 2007 - Arlington (Parks), TX - After spending the first part of the season in the south the Texas Putting Tour ventured north to the Dallas-Ft. Worth area for its 4th and 5th events of the year. Saturday the tour would play the normally tough Arlington Parks course. As the players showed up they found that new carpet and mats had been put down which made the course much easier.

In the amateur division Mike Huckaby and Rob Martin would hold the first round lead at 8 under 28. The only other player within 5 strokes would be Dwain Willett sitting two strokes back. In the second round Dwain would shot a second 6 under 30 which would keep him in contention. Co-leader Rob Martin would hold onto the lead but would see it reduced by a stroke while Mike Huckaby had bad second round and fell three stokes off the pace.

A great front nine from Dwain would put him in lead going to the last nine holes and a solid back nine would cement the victory and give him a state spot. Rob Martin would finish in second place seven strokes behind Dwain. Additional spots went to Rob Martin and Ken Stanfill in match play competition.
