Joel Baker Toasts Field in Fort Worth
8 April 2006 - Fort Worth, TX - Another windy day would greet the players in the
5th event of the year on the Texas Tour.
Joel Baker would fire a
great first round on the tough course with a nine under 27 giving him a three
stroke lead and would not look back over the final two rounds. A thirty and 29
over the last two rounds would provide him with a total of 22 under 86 and his
final win margin of six strokes over
Lee Messinger,
Cliff Matthews and
Steve Armstrong. The
win also provided Joel with both a World and State Spot. Additional state spots
went to Wade Sahmel and
Cliff Matthews in match play competition.
Mike Huckaby Gets His 2nd Win of the Year in Ft. Worth
8 April 2006 - Fort Worth, TX - Mike Huckaby
of Arlington, TX continued his roll after going
undefeated in double elimination match
play in Arlington two weeks ago, taking Saturdays event.
A cold front moved through the area early Saturday morning,
greeting a field of 7 amateurs to chilly temperatures in the 50s and
heavy winds for the second tournament weekend in a row. Huckaby
topped the field of amateurs firing a three round total of 10 under
98 and getting a narrow one stroke victory over
Danny Hoel
and Rob Martin
to take his second victory of the 2006 season. The win also gave
Mike a state spot. Addition spots went to
Trevor Lewin
and Ken
Stanfill in match play competition.
