5-6 August 2006 - Columbia, SC - Greg Ward's seventh round 23 moved him into a tie with Rick Rybaczek and one stroke ahead of Randy Reeves on Sunday. Reeves completely dominated the second half of the South Carolina State Championship played in Columbia after missing out on the money in Saturday's event. Reeves opened up Sunday play with three rounds totaling 73 for a two-shot lead. Ward came back in the seventh round to pass Reeves and tie for the lead with Rybaczek and aced the final hole to win his fifth South Carolina State Championship title.
Ward posted a final score of 208 for his second tour win of the season. Reeves finished one shot in back of Ward at 209, while Saturday's winner Rick Rybaczek placed third at 210. Defending champion Vince Batten came in fourth at 211.
