Vince Batten
2006 Southern Putting Tour Champion |
7-8 October 2006 -
High Point, N.C. - In the professional division, Vince Batten won on the
third hold of sudden death against Greg Ward after the two ended tied at the end
of regulation at 206, then battled to a draw in the exciting 18 hole playoff
that ensued. Needing an ace on the final hole of the playoff to force the sudden
death playoff, Batten's tee shot went to the back rail then curled around the
lip of the cup with perfect speed, then inexplicably turned back to drop into
the hole. The two matched aces on Holes 1 and 2, then Batten's ace on Hole 3
went unanswered when Ward's tee shot lipped the cup.
Greg Newport finished third one stroke away from joining the playoff
at 207. Gary English and Andy Coradini tied forth at 212.
