Lee Messinger Win Oklahoma State Tour Event in Playoff over Steve

27 August 2006 - Lawton, OK - It rained throughout the night and
soaked the Lawton, OK course for the Oklahoma Tour's Sunday medal
tournament on Course #1. In wet playing conditions, there was
drizzle throughout the first couple of rounds and an outright
downpour during the final round to make aces impossible and pars
became the desired outcome of a hole
In the professional division,
Lee Messinger defeated
Steve Yates
in an 18 hole playoff after the two ended tied at the end of regulation play at
92. Mike
Chisum finished third at 95, with
James Taylor fourth at
99.
Jason Van
Buskirk successfully completed a weekend sweep in Lawton with a
five stroke victory over his dad,
Jimmy
VanBuskirk.
Just like Saturday, Jason VanBuskirk took the early lead at four under par,
followed by Danny Hoel
and
Trevor Lewin
a stroke back at 33. Jimmy VanBuskirk followed at one under par.
Despite the steady drizzle, Jason VanBuskirk fought his way to six under par
in the second round, holding the 36-hole lead at 62. Hole continued to hold on
to the second spot at 67 posting three under par for the round.
Jason VanBuskirk continued to fight the course with rain coming down and
posted par for the round but completed the three rounds at 98 for his 10th win
of the 2006 OK season. Jimmy VanBuskirk settled for second at 103, with Hoel
third at 105. Lewin finished fourth at 108.
