2006 PPA National Seniors Championship


Steve Toomey aces his final hole to force a playoff for the 2006 PPA Senior National Championship

3 July 2006 - Martinez, GA - Steve Toomey trailed the 36-hole leader Dan Anders by six strokes entering the final round of the 2006 PPA Senior National Championship. A final round 22 by Toomey including an ace on his final hole (shown in the photo to the right) was enough to pass Anders but left him in a tie at 79 (29-under par) with the 1995 PPA National Champion, Bill Kirby, Jr. In the 18 hole playoff, Toomey defeated Kirby firing a round of 25 (11-under par) for the PPA Senior National Championship title.

Rounding out the top five finishers were Gary English in third at 81 and five players, Roger Beckerman, Robert Johnson, Vance Randall, Dan Anders and Rick Culverhouse, tied for fourth at 82.
