2005 Louisiana State Championship

2005 Louisiana State Championship was held
Saturday August 20, 2005 at the Lake Charles Putt-Putt. The format
would be 54 holes of medal play with the top four finishers
receiving byes into the quarter finals of match-play. The winner of
the match-play would win the Championship. All matches would be
eighteen holes.
Brice Bergesen,
who won a state event
earlier this year on this course, would win the medal play
portion of the event and the top seed in match play with a three
round total of 35 under 73.
Jeffrey Smith
and Charles Cox
both shot 32 under 76 to take the 3rd and 2nd seeds respectively.
The fourth seed spot would require a sudden death match play between
Lee Messinger
and Trevor Lewin,
who both shot 30 under 78s, to decide. Trevor had honors and aced
the first four holes but Lee topped him each time. When Trevor
missed the fifth hole Lee took advantage and made the ace to win
take the fourth seed. |
