The first two rounds of the match play portion of the Championship would be dominated by the amateur division as not a single Pro was able to advance into the quarter finals to play the four top seeds. The Quarter Finals would pit Brice Bergesen against local Walter Henry, Lee Messinger against Trevor Lewin, Charles Cox against Jason Sheffield and Jeffrey Smith against Dave Blalock. The amateurs were not able to get any further as all the top seeds advanced into the semi-finals. In the first semi-final match Lee Messinger would shoot an 11 on the back nine to win 2 with 1 over Brice Bergesen. In the second match Jeffrey Smith would squeak by Charles Cox 1 up. These results would setup an all Dallas final. As the last match came down to the last four holes Jeffrey held a one hole lead. A miss on the 15th hole by Jeffrey gave Lee an opening and he took advantage by making the remaining four holes to win the Championship 1 up.
