Vince Batten2 October 2005 - Columbia, S.C. - At the halfway point of the 2005 PPA South Carolina State Championship, Michael Hitt used a great round of 14 under par to lead the event at 76, followed by 2005 PPA National Champion Jay Klapper at 78. Andy Coradini, Rick Rybaczek and Matt Summey were tied at 80, with Greg Ward, Vince Batten and Manfred Stewart at 81 and still in the hunt.
After re-pairing in the afternoon, regulation play ended with Batten and Rybaczek tied at 161. Batten went on to win the 18-hole playoff that followed (25-27), giving him his first South Carolina State Championship. With the win, Batten becomes only the second player to win the three state championship trifecta (SC/NC/VA) in his career. Brad Lebo was the first to finish this awesome feat only a week ago with his win in North Carolina. Ward finished alone in third at 162, only a stroke away from the win. Hitt, Klapper and Stewart split the fourth spot at 163.

South Carolina State Champion Jeff Carr2005 AmPutters.com Classic Champion Jeff Carr fought back from a five stroke deficit going into the final round, shooting a final round 12 under par to catch Larry Smith at the end of 6 rounds, both ending regulation play at 170. Smith started the 18-hole playoff that followed strong, but Carr fought back again, and after the 18-hole playoff was completed won his first South Carolina State Championship.
