Mike Chisum
Breaks Messinger's String of Victories on Oklahoma Tour

The course was still wet from the rain the day
before. In the Pro division,
Mike Chisum
won by one stroke over
Steve
Armstrong and
James Taylor.
Chisum started out strong in the first round shooting a seven under
par, 29. Trailing him by one stroke was
Lee Messinger
at 30. In the second round, Chisum shot a solid six under par, but
one stroke was James Taylor threatening him with a great round of
28. Messinger struggled in this round shooting two under par, 34.
In the third round, Steve Armstrong tried to
catch the leader with a final round 29, but ended up falling one
stroke short. Armstrong had to settle for a second place tie with
James Taylor at 91. The win by Mike Chisum ended Lee Messinger's
winning streak on the Oklahoma State Tour. James Taylor earned the
Oklahoma State Tour spot.
In the Amateur division,
Jimmy
VanBuskirk won by two strokes over his
Jason
VanBuskirk with a three round score of 88.
This was his third win in his last four tournaments. Jimmy
VanBuskirk and
Donny
Halpain were the first round leaders at 30. Jimmy VanBuskirk
then fired a 29 in the second round to sit at 59 and one stroke
ahead of
Danny Hoel
at 60. Two stroke back at 61 was Jason
VanBuskirk.
In the third round both Jimmy VanBuskirk and
Jason
VanBuskirk shot seven under par, 29, which earned
Jimmy VanBuskirk his third Oklahoma Tour win of the 2005 season.
Greg Cole and
Neal Armstrong earned the Oklahoma State Tour spots.
