Lee Messinger
Continues String of
Victories on Oklahoma Tour
27 August 2005 - Lawton, OK -
Before the tournament started, there were some
suspicious looking clouds to the north. In the Pro division,
Lee Messinger
continued his role on Saturday shooting a three round total of 89.
It was
Lee Messinger
and Mike Chisum
tied at 31 for the first round lead.
Steve
Armstrong was just one stroke back at 32. In the second round,
Messinger shot nine under par to give himself a four shot lead over
Chisum who shot 31. Towards the end of the second round, the clouds
overhead were threatening to poor down rain on the players and
that's exactly what happened. The rain; however, didn't mess up
Messinger's and Chisum's final rounds as they both shot 31.
Messinger finished at 89 with Mike Chisum in second at 92 and Steve
Armstrong in third at 96.
In the Amateur division,
Neal Armstrong won his first Oklahoma State Qualifier of the
2005 season. After the first round, Neal Armstrong and
Danny Hoel
shared the lead at 30. Neal Armstrong turned in a second round score
of 31.
Jason
VanBuskirk tied him with a second 28. One
stroke back was Hoel, alone in third at 62.
The rain came down and the floods came up in
the third round, which caused the scores to go up significantly.
Neal Armstrong only posted two under par, 34, in the third round,
but it was enough to hold off the rest of the struggling field. Neal
Armstrong and
Greg Cole earned the Oklahoma State Tour spots.
