It was a nice day in Enid for the Oklahoma State Championship. The
final Oklahoma tournament of the year proved to be one of
excitement. There were many great players on hand in both divisions,
but only two of them took home the title of Oklahoma State Champion.
Terry
Smith, winner of the 2005 Pro-Am Championship, came out on top
of the Pro field by beating
Mike Chisum
on the final hole of the match. Terry got past
Greg Sandlin
in the semi-finals which gave him a spot in the finals. In the other
bracket Mike Chisum beat
James Taylor,
3 and 2 the 2004 APA State Champion, in the semi-finals, on the last hole to
win 1-0.
Donny Halpain
won the APA State title in a close final match against
Jason VanBuskirk.
Halpain made the second to last hole and a missed putt by VanBuskirk
took him to the last hole one up. He aced the final hole to win 2-0
and the 2005 APA Oklahoma State Championship.
The 2005 4 Man Team Champions are Mike Foster, Danny Hoel, Mike
Chisum, and David Chisum. They beat the team of Mike Huckaby, Lee
Messinger, Neil Armstrong, and Steve Armstrong by one stroke.
The 2005 Pro-Am Champions are Mike Foster and Terry Smith. They
shot a three round total of 74, beating John Lozier and Scott
Schuler by one shot.
