Holds on for Victory as Rain and Strong Winds Visit the Enid, OK
12 June 2005 - Enid, OK -
With rain overnight, course #2 in Enid, OK was
wet but playable when the players arrived at the course Sunday
morning. By the 11 a.m. tee-time, the course was dry but a light
south wind was replaced by 35-40 mile per hour winds in the middle
of the second round. By the end of the second round a hard rain
started to fall resulting in a two-hour rain delay leaving all but
three hole playable. The third round was started with a wind chill
of nearly 50 degrees. Mid-way through the third round the rain
returned.
Chris Enders
had just eight aces in the tournament played the day before (June
11th) but he carded 10 aces in his first round for a three stroke
lead. As the strong winds and rain came to the course, Enders could
only manage one ace in his third round but held on for four stroke
victory.
Amateur
Scott
Schuler played his first two rounds without a bogey stroke ended
his third round with a costly bogey (his third of the final round)
on his final hole.
Danny Hoel
who was playing in the same group and tied with Schuler going to the
final hole managed a deuce on his final hole of play for the amateur
victory.
