Mike
Chisum Posts Six Stroke Victory
3 April 2005 - Altus, OK - Second day
in Altus, Oklahoma and fifteen putters
found themselves facing the tough course 2 for what could be the
final time. The temperature got into the 80s. Practice was nice
with little wind, but that would change at the start of the
tournament. The course is a real teaser. You think have a shot down
and it starts to get fishy in the wind during the tournament.

After the first round, several putters were mastering the course
with 29 with one 28 by
Mike Chisum
to take the lead.
David Chisum
and Donny
Halpain were leading the APA division
with 29s of their own. Well the course gives and then it takes.
Out of all the putters who shot under
thirty in the first round found, all found
themselves shooting over 30 in the second except for
Gary Reed who
shot another 29 and was tied with
Mike Chisum for the second round with 58. In the APA, David Chisum
found himself with a 61 and a four stroke lead over the field.
The third round was when class started and Mike Chisum was the
teacher. With none of the pros even close to a
round of 30, Mike burned the course and shot an incredible
26. Mike finished with an impressive 84 and the state spot followed
by Gary Reed with a 90 and
Joel Woodall
at 92. David Chisum locked up the Chisum sweep by shooting a 32 in
the final round to take first in the APA division
with a 93 and a state spot. Scott Schulers 29 in the final round
was not enough to catch David but was enough to cut in on the field
and place him in second with a 95.
In match play,
James Taylor
found himself in sudden death for the second day in a row, but lost
to Rod Phillips
who took the second state spot. Gary Reed defeated
Steve
Armstrong for the third spot Match play in the APA found
Jimmy
VanBuskirk defeating
Scott
Schuler and
