17 July 2005 - Louisville, KY - With just three players breaking
80, Eddie Coy used three consistent
rounds, 24, 25 and 26, for a 54 hole total of 75, 33 under par, and a two stroke
victory over Randy Reeves in the 2005 PPA Bluegrass Open.
Coy lead by one stroke
after the first round (24) and second round (49) before pulling away to his
eventual two stroke margin of victory.
Kevin Lacey finished in third at 79 posting a final round 25 with
David McCaslin,
Nate Nichols and
Brad Lebo in a tie for fourth at 82.
Unlike the Kentucky Classic where
Ricky Schults lead from the
opening round, Schults needed a final round 27 to move into a tie for the lead
and a playoff victory over
Zach Smith
before earning the Bluegrass Open title.
Dennis Biesma and
Andy McCoy were tied for the lead
at 57 after 36 holes but each faced difficult final rounds posting rounds of 32
and 33 respectively. Smith posted a final round 26 to move from two strokes off
the lead into a tie with Schults at 85 to force the playoff.
Jeff Brown and Terry Sanner tied
for third at 88 with Anthony
Russell and Dennis Biesma
in a tie for fifth at 89.
