David McCaslin Fires Final Round 22 and Wins a Five Way Playoff for Victory in the Kentucky Classic

16 July 2005 - Louisville, KY - Trailing the 36 hole leader, Randal Smith by six strokes entering the final round, David McCaslin put together a final round 22 to pull himself into a five-way tie at 75, 33 under par. Paul May, who was also at 53 after 36 holes, fired a final round 22 to get to 75 while 36 hole leader Randal Smith posted a final round 28. John Ventura and Kevin Lacey, both at 49 after 36 holes, each posted final rounds of 26 to join the five PPA pros tied at 75. McCaslin defeated the other four PPA Pros in the five-way playoff to earn the victory and the $195 first place prize money. John Bambling finished one stroke out of the playoff at 76 in sixth place with James Weber in seventh at 77.
Ricky Schults posted rounds of 23, 24 and 28 for a 54 hole total of 75 and a three stroke victory over Scott Copeland who was alone in second at 78 (23, 26 and 29). Rounding out the top five were Anthony Russell at 80 in third, Zach Smith at 82 in fourth and Barry Moore, Andy McCoy and Barb Mingo in a tie for fifth at 84.
