Tom Adair Defends 2003 Victory in Tyler, TX on PPA Texas State Tour 15 May 2004 - Tyler, TX - The Texas Putting Tour continued it's year at the course in Tyler, TX. The opening round saw defending champion from last year's Tyler event, Tom Adair, pop an opening round 12 under 24. This gave him a 2-stroke lead over Brice Bergesen. Most of the rest of the field was bunched tightly behind Brice with 5 players between 27 and 29. A second round saw all players shoot between 28 and 31 and going to last round Tom still held the lead but it had been reduced to one stroke. Tom played a good even last round with 14 's on the both the front and back to take the win in Tyler again. Mike Baldoza finished second two back with Lee Messinger and Brice Bergesen tied four third four back of Tom. The win gave Tom his first state spot of the year. Additional spots went Mike Baldoza and Wade Sahmel in match play. After two rounds in the amateur division Trevor Lewin and Adam Sahmel held the lead at 17 under 55. Gary Plain was one pack with Mickey DeLucca, Chance Marett, and Dave Blalock three back. Both Adam and Trevor shot solid last round 7 under 29's, it was up to the rest of the field to catch them. Only Mickey DeLucca was up to the task, his last round 10-under was enough to make up the distance and get into the playoff with Trevor and Adam. Trevor played a steady round in the playoff and 6 under 30 and both Mickey and Adam faltered giving Trevor his second ever state title and a spot at the state finals.
