Perdue Wins
NCPutters Open in High Point for First Pro Win Since 1990

Lance
Perdue entered himself in the North Carolina win books
on Saturday for the first time since re-joining the Pro
Division in 2003. Perdue pulled out a wire-to-wire victory
during play at the third annual NCPutters Open conducted on
Course 2 in High Point for the first time ever in North
Carolina Tour history.
Perdue opened action with a 25 for a two-shot lead over
Vince
Batten and
Jimmy
Comer. The round of 25 included a 12 on the back that
would later prove to be the difference in his win. Perdue
would later finish the day with rounds of 26 and 27 to close
out his first professional win since 1990. Perdue finished
with a score of 78 to win by three shots over Comer, who was
competing in his first PPA event of the season. Comer put
together rounds of 27, 26, and 28 to finish alone in second
at 81.
Ricky Schults posted his first win on the North Carolina
tour since he last played in High Point back in June.
Schults posted consistent rounds of 29, 28, and 29 to come
away with a two-shot win over
Chuck
Nance and
Keith Waters. Schults won for the third time this season
in North Carolina with a score of 86. Nance and Waters
finished tied at 88, and
Adam
Smith placed fourth with a score of 90.
Finishing in third for the Pros was
Brad Lebo,
who shot 82 and is within reach of collecting his first ever
North Carolina Player of the Year title. Batten finished
tied for fourth with local player
Ray
Guthrie and
Greg
Newport, all at 85.
The final North Carolina regular season tournament is set
for Sunday, September 5 at 10:00 a.m.
in High Point on Course 2 for the Triad Open.
