IPPT Central Major in Southport, IN

20 June 2004 - Southport, IN - After finishing in the last cash spot all but one tournament this year Charlie Greenwalt won his first event on the Indiana Tour this season with a 2 stroke victory in the Central Major at Southport, Indiana. Greenwalt shot the best he has all year starting with a 7 under par 29 and then following with rounds of 28,27,27,25 and 28 for a 6 round total 164. Shawn Gilliland finished second at 50 under par 166 while John Ventura's 48 under par 168 was good enough for third place. Dave Nutini finished fourth in the event with a 47 under par 169 while Tim Greenert rounded out the top five with a 45 under par 171. Jerry Pinotti grabbed the last cash spot with with a 41 under par 175. A total of 12 pro's competed in the 6 round event.
In the Amateur Division, Bill Hammons hammered the field with a fine 52 under par 164 that would have tied for first in the pro division. Hammons put together rounds of 26,31,27,27,25 and 28. John Watkins of Southport finished second 11 shots back at 41 under par 175. Scott McCutchen finished third in the event with a 39 under par 177, Dave Hager was fourth at 38 under par 178 and Zach Smith rounded out the top 5 with a 34 under par 182.
The IPPT Tour now moves to Columbus, Indiana for 2 events Saturday July 3rd and Sunday July 4th.
