6 June 2004 - Richmond, IN - John Ventura kept a steady hand and keen eye as he worked to win his first Major event on the Indiana Tour this year. Ventura's 49 under par 167 was good enough to beat his closest competition, James Weber, who finished 2 shots back at 169. Ventura fired an 81 for his final three rounds to move into the top spot and claim the victory. Kevin Lacey finished third at 172, while the Great Lakes Tour's Todd Viau was 4th at 175. Tim Greenert of Louisville was 5th with a 176. Roger Beckerman and Jay Hadsell tied for the last cash spot at 178. A total of 14 pro's competed in the 6 round event held in Richmond, Indiana. In the Amateur Division, John Watkins of Southport won his second straight Major Event posting an 6 stroke victory shooting a six round total 168 48 under par. Sam Raizor of New Albany was second 6 shots back at 174 while Scott Copeland finished third with a 178. Kyle Poole finished 4th 194 while Anthony Russell grabbed the 5th spot with a 198. The IPPT Tour now moves to Southport, Indiana for two events on Saturday and Sunday, June 19th and 20th. |
