4 October 2003 - Lynchburg, VA - Mike Brown notched his third consecutive victory in Lynchburg as he came from a two-shot deficit to win. A final round 25 overtook Andy Coradini's amazing second round lead of two strokes into a two-shot win for the two-time defending Lynchburg Open champion.

Earlier this season, during a weekend in May, Brown dominated in a field that participated through constant rain the entire weekend. This weekend started out with sunny skies, but the winds were the major elements as it progressed well into the afternoon.

Coradini, who won the Virginia State Championship back in 2001, got off to a good start along with Robert Johnson, both firing 24's, with Justin Taylor and Daryl Freeman both a stroke back, and Brown among a group that were two back. Brown would shoot a 24 in the second round, and would move up into a tie for second with Taylor after 36 holes. Coradini fired a second 24 of his own to have the lead to himself at 48.

Coradini could not hang on to his first Virginia victory since he won the State in 2001. Instead, he fired a 29 to finish at 77, giving Brown the opportunity to extend his win streak on Course 1. Brown fired a final round 25 to finish at 75 and to win by two strokes over Coradini. Brad Lebo came in third at 78, while fourth went to Robert Johnson and Taylor, both at 79.

Chuck Dibbs posted his third win of the season in the APA Division by pulling off a one-stroke victory. Dibbs trailed by three shots to Bob Chetister and fired a final round 26. Dibbs won the first of two scheduled events in Lynchburg by posting a final score of 85. Bill Garrett, who opened the tournament with a 25, stumbled to fire a 32 to hang on to the lead and lost his chance at a win with a final round 29. He finished tied with John Petrie for second at 86, with Chris Kern finishing fourth at 87, and Chetister winding up in fifth at 88.

The tournament began with a shotgun start. There were 26 professionals and 15 amateurs competing in this event.
