Danny Holcomb Wins Mishawaka Open

19 July 2003 - Mishawaka, IN - Touring Pro Danny Holcomb of Hope, Indiana picked up his first medal play win of the 2003 season with a 4 shot victory in the Mishawaka Open. Holcomb started strong with back to back 10 under par 26's and then finished with a 5 under 31 to post a 25 under par 83. Club Pro Shawn Gilliland of Indianapolis finished 2nd 4 shots back at 87 while Charlie Greenwalt of Indianapolis battled back after a slow start to grab the last cash spot with a 20 under par 88.

In Match Play, Shawn Gilliland defeated the Great Lakes Tour Todd Viau 4 and 3 in the 36 hole final. Gilliland advanced to the final with an 18 hole victory over Charlie Greenwalt. Viau advanced to the finals defeating Nate Nichols and Danny Holcomb. Zach Smith Wins APA Mishawaka Open 19 July 2003 - Mishawaka, IN - Zach Smith traveled a few hours North of his Indianapolis home to win the APA Mishawaka Open by one stroke over APA points leader Bill Hammons. With the victory Smith picks up his third APA win this year and draws with in one of Hammons who has 4 victories thus far. Smith put together rounds of 29-30-33 for a 16 under par 92. Hammons was one shot back with rounds of 27-33-33 for a 93. APA Rookie, and Third Generation Player Josh Garrison finished third with a 12 under par 96. In Match play Josh Garrison picked up the victory with a 36 hole win over Zach Smith. Garrison defeated Bill Hammons to advance to the final while Smith defeated Randy Shreve to advance. |
