13-14 September 2003 - Columbus, IN - Charlie Greenwalt of Indianapolis picked up his second IPPT State Medal Play Title winning the 2003 Edition in exciting fashion over James Weber of Cincinnati, Ohio. Greenwalt and Webber were tied with identical 207's after 144 holes which forced the 18 hole play-off to decide the State Championship. Weber took the early 9 hole lead in the play-off with a 4 under par 14 while Greenwalt could only muster a 2 under par 16. But Charlie turned it up a notch on the second nine holes making the first 8 aces and an 18 hole score of 26. Weber had aced 5 holes on the back 9, but he needed an ace on 18 to force sudden death. He was unable to convert and Greenwalt won the playoff 26 to 27.

Greenwalt was tied with Tom Morrison of Franklin after the first 4 rounds on Saturday. Both players shot 103 for 72 holes. Weber was 5 shots out of the lead headed into day two, but quickly made up ground with rounds of 23, 22, 25 and 29 to shoot a 99, 45 under par. Tom Morrison finished third in the event with a 77 under par 211 while Danny Holcomb was fourth at 212 with 2 record tying rounds of 22 on Columbus Course #2. Shawn Gilliland, not only wrapped up the State Points Championship but he also finished 5th with an 8 round total 217.
Bill Hammons 2001 Indiana APA Medal Play Champion
13-14 September 2003 - Columbus, IN - Bill Hammons posted a 6 shot lead on Day one of the 2003 Indiana State Amateur Championship and held on day two to take a 2 stroke victory in the Medal Play event. Hammons fired rounds of 29,29,29,32, 29, 25, 27 and 30 for an 8 round total 230. John Watkins finished in a tie for second place with IPPT APA Rookie of the Year Josh Garrison at identical scores of 232. Zach Smith finished in fourth spot at 242, while Scott McCutchen was 5th at 248. With the victory, Hammons clinched the APA Points title.
