4 May 2003 - Columbus, IN - The IPPT
Tour has been playing in Columbus for 3 seasons and at least once
each trip the rain seems to follow. That was the case in the IPPT
West Major as
Tom
Morrison survived the final 2 rounds of steady rain to pick up
his first victory of 2003. Morrison set a new course record on
Miller's Putt-Putt Course #2 in round three carding a 14 under par
22 that featured 2 pars and a bogie along with 15 aces.
Morrison shot rounds of 26, 26, 22, 24, 28 and 32 for a 58 under
par 158.
Shawn Gilliland finished second after shooting a 54 under par
162. James
Weber moved into the IPPT Points lead with a strong 3rd place
finish shooting a 53 under par 163.
John
Ventura,
Mark Hasty
and
Charlie Greenwalt finished in a 3 way tie for 4th with identical
50 under par 166's.
Bill Hammons wins IPPT West
Major APA Title
4 May 2003 - Columbus, IN -
Bill Hammons
used consistent rounds of 29 and under to take home the APA IPPT
West Major Title. "Slick Willie" (as he is called on tour) fired
rounds of 28, 29, 29, 29, 28 and 28 for a 45 under par 171.
John Watkins
was 13 shots back in second place with a 32 under par 184.
Scott
McCutchen finished third with a 31 under par 185.
