Shawn Gilliland Wins the
IPPT "Race-Day.Com" Open
Shawn Gilliland, winner of the Race-Day.com Open on the
PPA Indiana State Tour.3 May 2003 - Columbus, IN - Shawn Gilliland took home the top prize in the Race-Day.com Open at Miller's Putt-Putt in Columbus, Indiana. The 30 year veteran fired rounds of 27, 29 and 26 for a 26 under par 82 and a 2 shot victory. Tim Greenert, 1968 PPA National Champion Bob Marcellino and James Weber all tied for second shooting identical 24 under par 84's. Danny "Sumo" Holcomb and Tom Morrison tied for 5th and last cash with 23 under par 85's.
In the Match Play event James Weber picked up his first professional win defeating Tim Greenert in the 36 hole final.
John Watkins wins APA Race-Day.Com Open
3 May 2003 - Columbus, IN - John Watkins lapped the field after shooting rounds of 27 and 28 to start the Race-Day.com Open in Columbus, Indiana. He added a round of 32 to card a 54 hole total 87 good enough for a 6 shot victory in the 2003 "Lidlifter" on the IPPT Tour. Bill Hammons finished second behind Watkins with rounds of 29, 31 and 33 for a 15 under par 93. Dave Hager finished third, 2 shots behind Hammons with a 13 under par 95.
In the Match Play event, Bill Hammons chalked up yet another IPPT victory defeating Scott McCutchen in the 36 hole final.
