2003 Clayton Cup and Hancock Cup Teams

13 October 2003 - The defending Clayton Cup team from the North Carolina State Tour brings back seven of the ten players who claimed the Cup in Burlington, North Carolina in October 2002. Co-captains are once again Greg Newport and Opie Roberts. The three new members of the team for 2003 are Tommy Barbour, Bear Landin and Lance Perdue.

The North Carolina State Tour Hancock Cup team brings back three of the six members of the 2002 team that finished second in the Hancock Cup matches played in Burlington, N.C. in October 2002. Walter Kolb, Keith Waters and Russell Sigmon, Jr. (2002 and 2003 APA North Carolina State Champion) anchor this team. The new members of the team for 2003 are Larry Hoover, Chuck Nance and Frankie Peters.

2003 Clayton Cup and Hancock Cup Teams

9 October 2003 - The 2003 Virginia State Tour Clayton Cup team returns seven players from the 2002 team that posted a disappointing fourth place. Brad Lebo and Vince Batten will serve as co-captains for the team that includes the 2003 PPA Virginia State Champion, Gilbert Sharpe, and the 2003 Elton Davis Memorial Champion, Daryl Freeman. Also representing the Virginia Tour will be Mike Brown, winner of seven PPA State Tour events in 2003 including the PPA Great Lakes Tour Medal Play Championship. The three new players on the team are Jonathan Moore, Jeff Spainhour and Matt Summey.

The Virginia Tour, winners of the Hancock Cup in 2002, returns with a team that includes the 2003 APA Virginia State Champion, Bill Garrett. Dennis Biesma of Roanoke, Virginia, winner of four PPA State Tour events in 2003, will be one of the new members of the team for 2003. Joining Biesma and Garrett on the team for 2003 will be Chuck Dibbs, Chris Kern, Malcolm Shumaker and Amy Smith.

PPA South Carolina State Tour
2003 Clayton Cup and Hancock Cup Teams

8 October 2003 - The South Carolina State Tour returns to the Clayton Cup matches with eight of the ten players who represented the tour at the 2002 Clayton Cup matches in Burlington, North Carolina. Allen Wall and Frank Warren are the two new members of the team for 2003. The South Carolina team comes into the Clayton Cup matches, for the second time in the last three years, with the current PPA National Champion. Robert Johnson, 2003 PPA National Champion, and Greg Ward, 2001 PPA National Champion, anchor a team that also features Andy Coradini, 1993 PPA National Champion.

The 2003 South Carolina State Tour Hancock Cup Team returns four players, Chris Hudson, Steve Helton, Brian Hutchins and Ricky D. Schults, from the 2002 Hancock Cup Team that finished third. The new players on the team are Christopher Alley and Jeff Carr. Ricky D. Schults is the 2003 APA South Carolina State Champion and Jeff Carr is the 2003 APA Georgia State Champion.

2003 Clayton Cup and Hancock Cup Teams

8 October 2003 - Bill Thompson of the Great Lakes Tour formally announced the Great Lakes Tour's Clayton Cup Team for the 2003 matches in Fredericksburg, Virginia on October 25th and 26th. The 2003 Great Lakes Tour Clayton Cup Team is lead by team co-captains, Kevin Lacey and Bill Baus, and features Rod Miller, 2003 PPA National Invitational Champion, and Paul Johns, 2003 PPA Great Lakes Tour Champion.

Anthony Amick will captain the team of amateurs who will look to improve on their fourth place finish in the 2002 Hancock Cup matches played in Burlington, North Carolina.
