David Lynch Recovers From Opening Round 32 to Claim Victory in Webster
25 August 2002 - Webster, TX - David Lynch recovered from a bad Saturday to come from five back with a final round 27 to edge 2nd round leader Don Parker by one stroke. Lynch shot 89 to Parker's 90. Lee Messinger, who won his sixth tour event of 2002 in a playoff on Saturday, shot the low round of the tournament on Sunday with a 3rd round 25 to finish in a tie for third at 91 along with Jeffrey Smith.
Don Parker won the medal spot in the pro division. Randy Willett defeated Greg Simpson for one match spot and Byron Kirby edged Greg Roberts to win the other match spot.
Adam Sahmel fired an incredible 91 ,with a 26 last round, to win the APA division on Sunday by three over Mickey DeLucca of Baton Rouge, LA. Dave Blalock was third at 95 and Tanton finished 4th at 98. State qualifying spots went to Dave Blalock, Jason Sheffield and Gary Plain.
