Rick Baird Wins Second Consecutive Tournament on PPA NC State Tour
Rick Baird playing in the 2000 PPA National Championship.22 June 2002 - Forest City, NC - After an opening round 24, Rick Baird fired a second round 27 to take the outright lead at 51 and held on to win his second straight NCPPA event and won his first South Carolina event since 1998 by one shot over local favorite Allen Wall and Bob Haizlip.
Baird won Saturday's combined event in Forest City with a final score of 79. Haizlip and Wall came in second at 80, while Tony Pack and Gary English finished tied for fourth at 83.
Ricky D. Schults posted his first career win in the APA Division after he won going wire-to-wire. A first round 26 was enough for Schults to grab his first win and won by two over Lance Perdue and Russell Sigmon, Jr. Schults shot 85 in his win, while Perdue and Sigmon finished tied for second at 87.
With his win, Rick Baird earned his South Carolina State Spot. Gary English took the North Carolina State Spot and Opie Roberts earned his North Carolina Match Play Spot.
