Paul Johns
missed the 54 hole course record by just
one stroke in winning the IPPT "Richmond Open" on course 3 in
Richmond, Indiana. Johns put together rounds of 29, 26 and 28 for a
25 under par 83 to claim his First Indiana Professional Putters Tour
Win.
Kevin Lacey of Cincinnati and
Jim
Garrison finished 2 strokes behind Johns with a pair of 85's.
Charlie Greenwalt and
Robin
Ventura tied for 4th with identical 22 under par 86's.
Kevin Lacey won the Match Play Championship with a 2 and 1
victory over
Danny
Holcomb in the 36 hole final match. Both putters earned a World
Putting Championship spot by advancing to the finals in the 18 pro
field. Lacey advanced to the finals with wins over
Tim
Greenert,
Tom Gross
and Jim Garrison. Holcomb advanced to the finals defeating Robin
Ventura, Charlie Greenwalt and
John
Napoli.
Tim Schrader Wins APA
Richmond Open Title
1 June 2002 - Richmond, IN -
Tim
Schrader put together consistent rounds of 28-28 and 29 for a 54
hole total 85 to win the APA Richmond Open on the Indiana
Professional Putters Tour. Schrader narrowly edged out Andy McCoy
who finished with a 22 under par 86.
Nate Nichols
finished in third place with a 20 under par 88 while
Zach Smith
of Indianapolis finished fourth at 89.
John
Watkins won the APA match Play Title defeating Nate Nichols 1 up
36 holes in the final match of the tournament. Watkins defeated Zach
Smith and Tim Schrader to advance to the finals. Nichols advanced to
the finals by defeating Scott McCutchen and Andy McCoy.
