Kevin Lacey
shot 8 consistent rounds of 29 and under to win the first 8 round
Tournament in IPPT history. Lacey's 217 was 2 strokes better than
Brandon
Yee's 219. John Ventura finished third with a 220 while
Charlie Greenwalt
was fourth with a 222. Pro Rookie
Danny Holcomb finished 5th. First day
leader Tom Gross (107) had a nightmare 5th round 35 that took him out of
the hunt early and he ended up finishing 6th. Lacey shot rounds of
26-27-29 and 25 for a second day 107 and the 2 shot victory. Yee carded
rounds of 26-30-26-26 for a second day 108. Ventura scored rounds of
29-31-27-24 for a 111. Greenwalt carded second day scores of 28-30-27-29
for a second day 114.

13-14 July 2002 - Indianapolis, IN - One could argue
Bill Hammons is an Indiana Putt-Putt Legend in the APA ranks after years
of playing, teaching and winning at the game. Hammons shot the low 4 round
total of the entire field to catch teen putting sensation Mike McGreevy
and then went on to beat him in an 18 hole playoff. Hammons carded rounds
on the second day of competition of 28-26-27-24 for a 105, McGreevy, who
shot a 111 to lead after day one put together rounds of 26-29-29-26 for a
110. John Watkins finished third in the event with a two day total 229.
Jeff Studer was fourth at 231. Another teen putting sensation, Zach Smith,
tied for fifth with Anthony Amick at 232.

Indiana Putting Legend

Charlie
Greenwalt was named the 2002 Indiana Putting Legend before the start of
the 8 round Legends Tournament in Indianapolis. Greenwalt was presented a
plaque by 2001 winner Jim Garrison. The plaque reads as follows:
"An individual who has spent his
entire life supporting the PPA, APA, JPA and the Indiana Professional
Putters Tour. For your success at the local, state and national level with
numerous career putting wins and titles. We the members of the IPPT are
proud to name you the 2002 Indiana PPA Legend"
