14 September 2002 -
Indianapolis, IN - The word "Rookie"
usually describes someone who is just beginning to play
Putt-Putt at a new level in the Pro division. The word Rookie to
Robin Ventura
and Brandon Yee means "What else can we win." The pair, playing
together for the first time as a doubles team, defeated the rest
of the field in the 54-hole State Doubles Final shooting a 39
under par 69. These Rookies missed a hole in one on only 15 of
the 54 holes played. So much for the Rookie Status.
The State Doubles Veteran Squad of
Jeff Garrison and
Shawn Gilliland finished second one stroke back at 70, while
the defending state champs
Kevin Lacey
and
Dave Nutini
finished in a tie for third with Louisville newcomers Paul May
and Jerry Pinotti. each team shot a 37 under par 71.
