15 September 2002 - Indianapolis, IN - Franklin Club Pro Tom Morrison played his best Putt-Putt in the State Finals winning his first State Medal Play Championship. despite an overnight rain and two heavy showers that stopped play, Morrison put together rounds of 25-29-23-25-28-27 for a 6 round total 157 that shattered the State Finals Record of 166 set by Charlie Greenwalt back in 1998.

Cincinnati Touring Pro John Ventura secured his Points Championship by placing second, one shot behind Morrison at 158. Brandon Yee of Columbus, Ohio and Kevin Lacey of Cincinnati tied for third with identical 160's. Club Pro Paul May of Louisville, Robin Ventura and Dave Nutini tied for 5th at 162.

Mike McGreevy 2002 Indiana APA Medal Play Champion

15 September 2002 - Indianapolis, IN - The "Teen Sensation" Mike McGreevy picked up his first state championship cruising to victory in the IPPT APA State Tour Finals. McGreevy finished the 6 round tournament with a 58 under par 158 to win by 11 shots over Bill Hammons.

McGreevy fired 2 rounds of 23 and never had a round higher than 29. he put together rounds of 27-23-28-23-28 and 29 for a 6 round total 158. Bill Hammons was second at 167 while James Weber of Cincinnati finished third at 168. Nate Nichols was 4th at 170 and Scott McCutchen was 5th with a 171.

The win is the second of the season for McGreevy of Indianapolis. His score of 158 sets a new Amateur Record not only for the State Championship but for the Tour as well.
