Indianapolis Touring Pro
Shawn Gilliland picked up his second Medal
Play victory on the Indiana Tour hammering the field in the Columbus
Open. Gilliland put together rounds of 24, 30 and 27 for a 27 under
par 81. Danny Holcomb finished second in the event with a 22 under
par 86 while
Tom Gross and
John Ventura tied for third place with
identical 20 under par 88's.
Jeff Garrison and Jerry Pinotti tied
for the last cash spot (5th) with a pair of 89's.
Gilliland was able to open up with a 12 under par 24 to take a
one shot lead over Tom Gross. he kept the lead after round two by
one shot over Danny Holcomb. His final round 27 was the best of the
field and helped him claim his 5th IPPT Title this season.

25 August 2002 - Columbus, IN - The man
know as "The Giant Killer" in the World Putting Championship in
Augusta broke through with his first Professional victory on the
IPPT winning the Columbus Open Match Play Title.
Danny Holcomb
defeated
Charlie Greenwalt in the 36 hole final 4 and 3. Holcomb
advanced to the finals with wins over Jim Garrison 3 and 2 and Tom
Gross 5 and 4. Greenwalt advanced to the final with wins over Rick
Blair 3 and 2, Shawn Gilliland 2 holes of Sudden Death and Jerry
Pinotti 2 up.

Zach Smith Wins APA Hoosier
Hysteria Classic
25 August 2002 - Columbus, IN -
Zach
Smith picked up his second Medal Play title of the 2002 season
winning the Columbus Open by 7 shots over
Nate Nichols.
Smith fired
rounds of 26, 25 and 29 for a 54-hole
total 80 (28 under par). Nate Nichols was
second with a 21 under par 87 while Mike McGreevy finished third
with a 17 under par 91.

Smith, who won the APA World Putting
Championship in Georgia, and McGreevy are 2 of the 3 "Young Guns" on
the Indiana Tour. New addition Robbie Brekelmans of Louisville will
add a nice 1-2-3 punch to the IPPT in years to come.

Hoosier Hysteria Classic
25 August 2002 - Columbus, IN - The
future is bright in Indiana for APA and PPA players as
Mike McGreevy
became the second teen to win an IPPT APA event in the Columbus
Classic. McGreevy won the Match Play title with a 2 and 1 win over
John Watkins in the 36 hole final.
McGreevy advance to the final with a win over Nate "Hollywood"
Nichols on the second hole of Sudden Death. Watkins advanced to the
final with a 1 up victory over Scott McCutchen and a 1 up victory
over Medal Play winner Zach Smith.
