23 June 2002 - Richmond,
IN - On a second consecutive day of
sweltering heat, Springfield, PA’s
Mike Brown
found his groove and picked up a big win in the Hoosier Classic.
Back-to-back 24’s in the first two rounds gave Brown a two-shot margin
over first round leader
Robin
Ventura. His 26 the last round, for a total score of 74, clinched
the victory while many of the other leaders stumbled. Brown appears
ready to pursue his true goal in Richmond, next weekend’s $12,000
Northern Open, coming off his big win in the
2002 PPA National Invitational, held last month in
Fredericksburg, VA.

Mark
Hasty of Fairfield, OH and
Jay
Hadsell of North Olmsted, OH found themselves in a tie for
second with both a World spot and a GLT spot on the line. After an
18-hole playoff, the players were still tied, forcing sudden death.
On hole 2, Jay Hadsell putted first and appeared to score a
hole-in-one, but the ball bounced out of the cup after striking the
bottom. Much to Hadsell’s dismay, Hasty aced behind him to claim
both spots.
