Anthony
Amick has now become the Great Lakes Tour's
hottest APA player, claiming his third consecutive GLT amateur event.
After two rounds of play, Andy McCoy held a one shot lead and all ten
players in the APA field were within striking distance. In the end, it
was Amicks fine last round of 27 that enabled him to overcome a
two-stroke deficit behind McCoy and, with a score of 89, finish two
shots ahead of reigning JPA National Champion, Bennie Williams of
Springfield, OH at 91. Bennie received the GLT spot.
James Weber
and Karen
Hastings tied for third at 92.
In the match play, Amick capped off an amazing perfect sweep of the
weekends APA events by defeating James Weber in the final match.
Amick scored two medal play victories in the West Virginia Open and
Travelodge Open, a doubles championship with Andy McCoy and a match play
victory all in the same weekend. Bennie Williams received his second GLT
spot by advancing to the semifinal match.
