8 October 2002 - The final spot on the 2002 PPA South Carolina State Tour Clayton Cup Team was not decided until the end of the 2002 PPA South Carolina State Tour Championship in Spartanburg. Both Ray Guthrie and Randy Reeves could earn a spot on the team if either posted the low score among the six PPA players (Todd Fowler, Tony Varnadore, Tony Jackson, Robert Johnson, Ray Guthrie and Randy Reeves) with two wins on the 2002 PPA South Carolina Tour. With his final round 21, Robert Johnson earned his first PPA South Carolina State Championship and his spot on the team leaving Ray Guthrie and Randy Reeves off the 2002 South Carolina Clayton Cup Team. The South Carolina Clayton Cup Team, defending their 2000 and 2001 Clayton Cup titles, is lead by co-captains Darrell Britt and Tony Jackson.
