26-27 October 2002 - Burlington, N.C. - The PPA North Carolina Tour won the 2002 Clayton Cup matches with an ace on the final hole by Opie Roberts. The ace by Roberts coupled with a miss by Kevin Lacey gave the North Carolina team 4 points in the final match a 93 points, enough for a one point margin of victory over the South Carolina and Great Lakes Teams that tied for second place with 92 points. The Virginia Team finished in fourth with 83 points.

The North Carolina Team was in fourth place entering the Sunday singles matches but earned 56 points on Sunday to win their first Clayton Cup title since the 1998 season when the North Carolina team won in Newport News, VA.
