Tim Murphree Returns to Winner's Circle for First Time Since 2000 Texas State Championship

23 June 2001 - Webster, TX -  The 2000 Texas State Champion, Tim Murphree, won his first event of 2001 with a 2 stroke victory over Brice Bergesen. Neither Brice nor Lee Messinger, both at two strokes back of Tim going into the final round, were able to place a good last round on the board, allowing Tim to cruse to an easy victory with final round 6 under 30. Bill Florian took third with Byron Kirby and David Lynch tying for fourth. State Spots went to Brice Bergesen, Don Parker and Al Simpson.

In the APA division Dwain Willett won his first event of 2001 with a one stroke victory over Andy Gaiser. State Spots went to Adam Sahmel, his first of the year, Jack Ramsey and Gary Plain.
