Lee Messinger Defeats Tom Adair in
Playoff to Win in Longview, TX

Adair was looking for a weekend sweep going into the final 5 holes
on Sunday. He held a three stroke lead on Lee
Messinger but took a bogy on the 15th hole to allow Lee to close to
within 1 stroke by the time both players reached the 17th hole. Lee made
the 17th to force a tie and both players made the 18th to take it to a
playoff. Lee started off strong taking a 5 stoke lead into the back nine
after shooting a 6 under 12 on the front. After struggling through the
back 9 taking four bogy strokes and only one ace through hole 17, Lee
saw Tom close to within 1 stroke going to the 18th. Tom was unable to
make the 18th and Lee closed out the win, for his second win of the
year, with an ace. Mike
Huckaby took third place for his first cash as a pro on the Texas
Tour.
In the amateur division Wade
Sahmel took his second win of the season shooting the best round of
the day at 10 under 26 in the first round. Wade made the first 7 holes
to shoot his 26. Gary
Plain of Tyler, Texas took 2nd place.
