David Lynch Wins on Texas State Tour

31 March 2001 - Ft. Worth, TX (Westside) - The Texas Putting Tour
continued its season today. In the Professional Division Greg Roberts
opened the tournament with a blazing 25 at the tough Westside
course. This gave him a six stroke lead going into the second round.
After a second round 31 Greg was still in control of the tournament with
a 4 stroke lead over Lee Messinger at 60 and another 2 strokes over
Pat
King at 62. Both Greg and Lee struggled in the third round and let most
of the field back in the tournament. Greg still held a one stroke lead
going into the final round. Only David Lynch and
Randy Wimpy were able
to break 30 in the last round, giving David the victory while Randy
ended up tied for second with Chris Conradi who played solid all day.
In the amateur division Wade Sahmel started off with a set of two
strong opening rounds which placed him at 60 with a three stroke lead
over Bruce Jean and Jeremy Tutle. Steve Tanton then proceeded to blitz
the field in the final 2 rounds coming from six off the pace to post a
four stoke victory.
The Westside course was playing very difficult as there were only 9
rounds of less than 30 out of the 98 rounds played.
