par 167 and his 3rd Major Title in Indiana in three tries. He has
also won all 5 Indiana events he has entered. Jim

Nichols Wins "IPPT North Major" In
Play-Off
17 June 2001 - Lafayette, IN - In wrestling you often hear the
phrase, "in order to be the man, you must first beat the
man." Nate
Nichols of Edinburgh has made the Indiana Professionals Putters
Tour APA Division a best 2 out of 3 falls wrestling match. Nichols
defeated Chuck
Gulley of Terre Haute on the 19th play-off hole after both
putters shot a 6 round total 30 under par 186. Nichols dropped well
behind in the Indiana APA points race when he missed two events in
Richmond, Indiana for work reasons. But that's just one fall in this
best of three match and after winning his 3rd straight medal play
event he moved himself right back into contention for the Indiana
APA points title. Points leader Danny
Holcomb of Hope finished third in the event with a 6 round total
29 under par 187. Zach Smith of Indianapolis finished fourth after
he defeated Mike Moon of Edinburgh in a sudden death play-off after
both players fired a six round total 190.
