Jody Comer 2001 Indiana PPA Medal Play Champion
26
August 2001 - Columbus, IN - Indianapolis Touring Pro Jody
Comer makes it a point to put on a show when he wins a tournament.
Comer overcame a 6 on hole 17 in the first round of the Myers Funeral
Service Indiana State Championship and went on to win the tournament by
one stroke over Charlie Greenwalt and Jeff Garrison.
Comer's misfortune on the old slick carpet on hole 17 kept the rest
of the field close as he wound up with a score of 4 under par 32. He
shot no higher than a 30 in the final 5 rounds to post a 41 under par
175. Greenwalt and Garrison ended up at 176 while Cincinnati Touring Pro
John Ventura used good course management to finish fourth at 177.
Ventura was tied for the lead until hole 17 bit him in the last round as
he tried for the ace and took a 3. Kevin Lacey finished alone in 5th
place finishing the tournament with a 37 under par 179. The win is
Comer's second on the Indiana Tour and first this year.
