Dave Nutini Wins "Columbus
Open" on the Indiana State Tour

21 July 2001 - Columbus, IN - So much for the old saying,
"practice makes perfect." When you "got game"
practice matters little. Such was the case in the "Columbus
Open" as Touring Pro Dave
Nutini tamed the hardest playing course on the Indiana Tour with
a four round total 123. Nutini took the lead after shooting a 7
under par 29 in the first round and never looked back. he added
rounds of 30, 31 and 33 to pick up his first win on the Indiana Tour
and lock up his second match play spot in the Indiana State Putting
Championship. Touring Pro Tom
Gross shot consistent rounds of 31, 33, 32 and 32 for a four
round total 128, good enough to place second. Indianapolis Club Pro Shawn
Gilliland shot a four round total 131 and defeated Jeff
Garrison in a sudden death play-off to capture third place.
Jim Bryant Wins "Columbus Open" Match Play
Title
21 July 2001 - Columbus, IN - Club Pro Jim
Bryant won the "Columbus Open" Match Play title
defeating Jim
Garrison of Mooresville 5 and 4 in the 36 hole final. Bryant
advanced to the finals defeating Shawn
Gilliland 2 and 1 and Tom
Gross 4 and 3. Garrison advanced to the finals with wins over Jeff
Garrison 2 and 1 and Tom
Morrison 2 and 1. Bryant's win is his second Match Play Title
this year.

Danny Holcomb Sweeps "Columbus Open"
Medal and Match-Play Titles
21 July 2001 - Columbus, IN - APA putter Danny
Holcomb is on a mission. He wants to tune up his game and
be ready for the jump to the ranks of the PPA next year. To do
that he wants to win often this season on the Indiana Tour. He
took a step in that direction with a 7 shot victory in the
"Columbus Open" . His four round score of 121 was 2
strokes better than the PPA winner Dave
Nutini. Holcomb shots rounds of 31, 29, 30 and 31. Bill
Hammons of Indianapolis finished second with a four round
total 128. Steve
Moon of Columbus shot a four round total 130 for a third
place finish. Holcomb kept things going his way in the
"Columbus Open" match play event. Holcomb defeated
Steve Moon in the 36 hole final 4 and 3. Holcomb advanced to
the final with wins over Dave
Hager 3 and 2, and James
Weber 1 up. Moon advanced to the final with wins over Vicki
Chinn 3 and 2 and Bill
Hammons 2 and 1.
