Todd Viau Wins Inaugural Switzer Classic in Springfield, Ohio

24 June 2001 - Springfield, OH - Todd Viau won his first GLT tournament of 2001 by coming from behind and winning by one stroke over Bill Thompson. Todd shot an 84 24-under par on course no. 1 of the Springfield, OH layout. Todd shot an impressive 25 the last round to come from behind to win his first tournament of the year. After two rounds Bill Thompson and Jay Hadsell were tied for the lead at 58, 14-under par.
The Springfield course will be the venue for the state finals to be held in Sept. The course is owned and operated by Jane Switzer and was in excellent condition.
In the amateur division, Brandon Yee won by shooting an impressive score of 83 25 under par and won by 6 strokes over Mike Bell. In the match play event, James Weber defeated Mike Bell and James received the spot.
The next tournament to be played on the Great Lakes Tour will be the Michigan Open. It will be played in Ypsilanti MI on July 15.
