Kevin Lacey Wins Ohio Open in a Playoff Over Bill Baus

19 August - Newark, OH - Kevin Lacey won his third tournament of the season by defeating Bill Baus in a playoff. On Sunday, Kevin and Bill both shot scores of 166 and that was one better than Jay Hadsell and Todd Viau as both players shot scores of 167.

Bill Baus started out the six round event by carding back to back 25's to lead the tournament by 3 shots over Jay Hadsell and one over Harry Sykes. Kevin was down seven shots after the first two rounds and that is when his come back began. Kevin next two rounds included scores of 28 and 26 to cut into Bill's lead and bring Kevin to within one stroke with two rounds to play. Also in the mix was Jay Hadsell and Todd Viau has both players were one shot back. The two leaders both shot scores of 55 and 56 to force the playoff. Kevin defeated Bill Baus in the 18-hole playoff and won the Ohio Open on Mike Gillooly's course located in Newark, OH.

In the APA Division, Brandon Yee made a clean sweep by winning the Ohio Open by 5 shots over Jeff Brown. Brandon came from 6 strokes down over the course of the last four rounds and to finish off the tournament shot a final round score of 25. This tournament win makes Brandon a four-time winner on the Great Lakes Tour. Brandon over the last two tournament weeks has been dominating the APA field.

The Great Lakes tour will return to action on Saturday, September 8, at 11:30 am on Course 2 for the Queens City Classic in Hamilton, OH.
