Randy Reeves Defeats Bill Thompson in a Playoff for the 2001 Travelodge Open (Charleston, WV

27 May 2001 - Charleston, WV - Randy Reeves has an impressive putting resume and now he can add the Travelodge Open. Randy defeated Bill Thompson in an 18-hole playoff by 2 shots. Bill was down by 5 shots early in the playoff, but was able to come back and cut the deficit to 2 shots before running out of holes. Randy and Bill shot 83 - 25 under par.

Before the last round both Randy and Bill were three down to Scott Buddie who was in the club house with a 2 round score of 53 and carried a three shot lead into the last round. Randy and Bill were able to over come the three shot deficit and finish the tournament with two strokes on the field heading into the playoff.

In the amateur division, local favorite Terry Sanner won by shooting an 84 and winning by 2 strokes over Brandon Yee. In the match play finals, Joe Gallagher defeated Ronnie Pavlov.

The Great Lakes Tour will play its next full weekend on June 9 and 10 in Richmond, IN.
