Ray Guthrie Wins 2000 North Carolina Match-Play
Championship
Forest City, NC - 17 September 2000 - Ray
Guthrie advanced to the finals of the North Carolina Match Play
championship after defeating Larry Simpson to get there and waited for
his loser's bracket finalist, defending 1999
Match-Play champion, Andy
Coradini.
After Coradini won the first match between the two by a 2 & 1
count, another 36 holes left them tied. Coradini had honors in
sudden-death and was on the second hole when he took a double bogey four
while Guthrie left his first shot close enough to the hole to win his
first Match Play Championship. Guthrie received a $350 first place
winning.
Special thanks are given out to the Connors from the Forest City
course for hosting the 2000 North Carolina
Teams and Match Play Championship.
North Carolina will play its 2000 NCPPA State Championship this
coming weekend in Greensboro, NC with Bart
Bason out to defend his 1999
North PPA State Championship.
