Greenwalt survived the heavy rain and an 18 hole play-off with Shawn
Gilliland to capture the final 2000 Indiana Professional Putters Tour
(IPPT) event at Southport, Indiana. Rain postponed the start of medal
play by 20 minutes but that didn't effect Greenwalt who fired an 8 under
par 28 in his first round, followed by rounds of 26, 29 & 29 for a
72 hole total 112 (-32). Gilliland put together rounds of 30, 27, 30 and
25 for a 112 total and an 18 hole play-off. Greenwalt was able to shoot
an 8 under par 28 in the play-off defeating Gilliland by 1 shot.
Greenwalt won the Match Play event defeating Tom Gross 1 up 19 holes in
sudden death and Gilliland 4 and 2 in the 36 hole final.
Scott McCutcheon of Southport fired a 72 hole total 123 to win the
final amateur event of the 2000 IPPT. McCutcheon carded rounds of 28,
33, 30 & 32 to defeat Points Champion John Howard of Terre Haute.
The win is McCutcheon's first of the year.
John Howard won the Southport Match Play Title defeating Klint Gentry
of Southport 1 up 40th Hole in Sudden Death. Howard advanced to the
final by defeating Nate Nichols of Columbus 1 up 18 holes.
